Appeal to former members

Appeal to former members

Colin Fraser11 Aug - 09:41

Come home and be part of something special.

At Edinburgh Hockey we have unfinished business.

We've come so close, so often to joining the ranks of Premier League clubs. We've not had the strength and depth to consistently achieve our goal and maintain our presence at the top tier.

This is an appeal to our former players and coaches as well as new, to come home and be part of something that is very different. Something more fulfilling. A special project.

It’s not that we lack success. We win leagues. We have alumni playing for GB, Scotland and most Premier League clubs. We are often the national champions at under 14 and under 16 level. We just don’t quite have the strength-in-depth to achieve this consistently.

Rather than repeat the same things and come up short again, we decided to go in a radical new direction.

We are focussed on player-centred coaching. Prioritising development of the person will lead to teams filled with higher performing athletes. If we improve every player’s ability to analyse the game in real-time and make better on-field decisions, we will create more successful outcomes.
The approach is being applied at all levels of the club, down to the children starting their hockey journey. We are building strength-in-depth within every team
Of course, a person's ability to analyse and make decisions is a skill for life. So, it's not just on the playing field that these more accomplished, more confident people will achieve more, but it's also in life generally.
We have engaged Mark Bennett of PDS coaching to help us transform the way that we do hockey.
A key phrase: “the greatest athlete development is coach development”.

The PDS approach to needs-centred coaching is proven across 30 years in sports as wide-ranging as professional basketball and baseball in the US, professional rugby in the UK, Olympic and Paralympic sports as well as amateur sports across many countries in the world.

We are six months into a multi-year journey developing a more caring, more inclusive, more fun environment, where everybody will be the best they can be.

This is a place for players and coaches who wants to be a part of a special project, delivering phenomenal personal fulfilment, accelerated personal development and participation in a caring community.

This is a community is which every participant can and will make a difference. This a community where every member can achieve their goals.

EHC is Excellence, Heart and Community.
