Great effort by the U16 Blues today against Watsonians. We arrived to find we only had 10 players (13 were expected) and the coach (me!) decided to introduce some new coaching principles (challenging!). The team completely bought in to some acceptable and unacceptable behaviours and worked really hard to make sure they contributed as individuals for the entire match. Their positive support of the players around them was also super to see. We actually won the 1st corner of the match and only conceded a bit of a scrappy goal after a break which we did well to foil initially. 1-0 at half-time when we only had 10 and no GK.
Many thanks to Anais' visiting cousin (who happened to be a gk) for stepping in and giving us a full complement for the 2nd half. Up to 11 we created some decent chances when we moved the ball early and managed to open up their defence effectively. We maybe lost the match but there we lots of "wins" in my view.
