Ladies 4s had very wet trip down to Kelso but actually dried up for the match. Despite some late arrivals due overruns at school hockey and a very tight squad due to non-availability, illness and injury we started strongly though without scoring. After they had a brief visit to our circle we went broke quickly and won a corner which Lesley slammed into the goal. A second followed when Isla H took an early shot from top circle and although the forward looking for a touch didn't get one, the ball found the backboard. They pulled one back when a deflection looped over Chloe's head after some hesitant defending. However, another good break down the right resulted in a cross (Lauren?) which I finished from a few metres out. Into the 2nd half and there wasn't quite the same urgency but we still won some corners and Gail Loukes finished nicely from a rebound, before Lesley slotted another 1st strike into the left corner. Throughout we forced them into errors and turnovers with some good shape and pressing while the defence were solid and all played almost the entire 70minutes. Into the final quarter and we did a great job of keeping the ball and conserving energy. Big clap to Zoe on her debut in this squad who worked hard and managed her "twinge" well to make an important contribution. Once again when we passed early and moved on, the opposition really didn't have an answer which leaves us top of the league with a 6 point lead at the half-way point and well on course for another promotion.
